Announcement of New Hospital in Markdale

Ottawa, ON – Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, congratulates the community of Markdale on the announcement of the Province of Ontario’s intentions to build a new hospital in Markdale.

The new hospital that is to be built will improve service for patients in Markdale. Enhanced services include integrated 24/7 urgent and primary care, short-stay beds, minor procedure space, as well as diagnostic and lab services.

The announcement of financial support from the Government of Ontario is long awaited in Markdale. When told they would need to come up with funds for the hospital, the community rallied to raise approximately $13.2 million in support of this initiative. Furthermore, Bill Walker, MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, and former MPP Bill Murdoch have been heavily involved lobbying the Government of Ontario to support this project.

“The announcement today that the Government of Ontario will be supporting a new hospital in Markdale is certainly great news for the community of Markdale,” said Miller. “I would like to congratulate all community members on their efforts to raise an incredible amount of money to show the Government that this is a top priority for the community. I would also like to congratulate MPP Bill Walker and former MPP Bill Murdoch on their efforts to make this project happen.”

The Government of Ontario has committed $3 million to support the project.
