Bill C-383 to Be Debated at Second Reading

Ottawa, ON – Bill C-383, The Transboundary Waters Protection Act, a Private Member’s Bill put forward by Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, is set to be debated at Second Reading in the House of Commons on Monday, October 1st, 2012.

Bill C-383 was introduced to the House by Miller on December 13th, 2011. The bill will ensure that all waters under federal jurisdiction are protected from bulk water removals while complementing provincial protections that are already in place to protect waters under their jurisdiction.

“Protecting our water is certainly a top priority not only for residents in my riding of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound but indeed all Canadians,” said Miller. “I am pleased that I have received a great deal of support from both sides of the House on this bill and look forward to continued support at Second Reading.”

Bill C-383 will be debated at Second Reading during the time for Private Members Business which takes place around 1:00 p.m. Miller is hopeful that on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012 his bill will be voted on.
