Canada Summer Jobs Program Brings 96 Summer Jobs to Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound

Ottawa, ON – The Federal Government has announced that 36,000 jobs were created across Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Further to this, Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, is pleased to announce that 96 jobs have been created through this program in Bruce and Grey Counties.

Canada Summer Jobs provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.

“Through summer jobs students gain valuable work experience and have an opportunity to earn money for the school year ahead of them,” said Miller. “Our students today are tomorrow’s workforce. I am pleased to see that the Government is making such a strong effort to ensure that students are able to find summer employment.”

In 2011, the Federal Government increased the annual budget for Canada Summer Jobs by $10 million, bringing the total program budget to $107.5 million.
