Chris Sokoloski Presented with the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation

 

Ottawa, ON – Today, the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, presented Chris Sokoloski of Owen Sound with the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation. Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, was in attendance and introduced the Minister at the event in Toronto.

 

In April of 2001, Her Majesty the Queen approved the design of a special bar to be worn with decorations to be known as the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation. A Warrant issued by the Governor General that created the governing policies for the award, state that it is to be: “awarded to individuals who have performed commendable service to the Veteran community and/or individuals who represent commendable role models for their fellow Veterans.”

 

Mr. Sokoloski is the Zone Officer for the Royal Canadian Legion Zone C-4. He has shown true commitment to ensuring that Veterans within his zone are receiving the services that they need to be active citizens in the region.

 

“I was very proud to watch as Chris Sokoloski received the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation today from the Minister of Veterans Affairs. Chris has certainly shown true dedication to the Veterans that he serves and is truly deserving of this award,” said Miller. “I was honoured to have the opportunity to speak and introduce the Minister at this event that saw 20 people receive this award.”
