Congratulating Gordon Monahan on Governor General’s Award

Ottawa, ON – Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, extended his congratulations to Gordon Monahan of Meaford on receiving the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts.

Monahan has had an incredible 30 year career wherein he has been known as an outstanding media artist, pianist, composer and sound artist. Furthermore, Monahan is the creator and director of the annual Electric Eclectics Sound Art Festival that has been held in Meaford for the past seven years.

“I would like to congratulate Gordon Monahan on being a recipient of a Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts,” said Miller. “Gordon is a shining example of the talented individuals we have here in Bruce and Grey Counties and I congratulate him on this tremendous achievement.”

Since 2000, the Governor General and the Canada Council for the Arts, have awarded six recipients each year that acknowledge artists for their remarkable career achievements in fine or applied arts, film, video, audio and new media.
