Federal Government Launches 2013-14 New Horizons for Seniors Call for Proposals

Ottawa, ON – Recently, the Federal Government launched the 2013-14 New Horizons for Seniors Program call for proposals to receive funding to support community-based projects.

The call for proposals will close on July 5th, 2013. Through this program organizations may receive up to $25,000 in funding per year for projects that address one or more of the program’s five objectives: volunteering, mentoring, expanding awareness of elder abuse, social participation and capital assistance.

“I recently announced funding for 13 projects in Bruce and Grey counties that received funding through the 2012-13 round of this program. This funding totaled $263,319 towards supporting senior members of our communities,” said Miller. “I encourage all organizations to apply for funding through this program before the July 5th deadline to enhance the lives of seniors in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.”

The 2012-13 round of funding through the New Horizons for Seniors Program saw more than $33 million in funding for community projects.
