Local Employers Receive Funds through Canada Summer Jobs Program

Ottawa, ON – Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, is pleased to announce that funding for local employers in the amount of $208,114 will create approximately 87 summer jobs for young workers this year throughout Bruce and Grey counties.

This funding is being received by local employers through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Canada Summer Jobs provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.

This year the application process for Canada Summer Jobs was moved to be earlier in the year so that employers would have advanced notice of the funding that they have secured and can begin looking for employees.

“I congratulate all of the local employers who successfully received funding on their applications through the Canada Summer Jobs program,” said Miller. “This program is a great way for local employers to ensure that they are able to hire young and skilled workers and also a great way for students to gain valuable work experience and to save money for the following school year.”

Overall, the $208,114 that will be received in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound will be dispersed over 68 different employers for a total of 87 jobs being created over the summer.
