Meaford Harbour to Receive Funding Through Small Craft Harbours Program

Ottawa, ON – Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, announced that the Meaford Harbour will be receiving funding for improvements through the small craft harbours program.

Repair and improvement projects are undertaken at harbours across the country by Fisheries and Oceans Canada, as part of its Small Craft Harbours Program, in cooperation with the local harbour authorities that manage and operate facilities for local users. The Small Craft Harbours Program will be cost sharing with the Municipality of Meaford to replace the finger float at the main “B” dock.

“Investing in harbours is vital in keeping them safe and accessible for those who depend on them to earn a living and support their families,” said Miller. “I am very pleased that the Meaford Harbour has received support through the Small Craft Harbours Program to help keep this important harbour operating effectively.”

The project will commence with the next week and is anticipated to be completed by October 30th, 2012.
