MP Larry Miller Encourages Local Employers to Apply for Canada Summer Jobs Funding

Ottawa, ON – Recently, the Federal Government announced that employers across the country are now able to apply for funding under the Canada Summer Jobs 2015 program. Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, is encouraging local employers in Bruce and Grey Counties to apply for funding through this program.

Since 2006, the Youth Employment Strategy (which Canada Summer Jobs is a part of) has helped more than 611,000 young people develop their skills for future employment. This past summer the Canada Summer Jobs program created approximately 87 summer jobs for young workers through funding in the amount of $208,114 in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.

Funding through the Canada Summer Jobs 2015 program will be available to not-for-profit organizations, public sector employers and small businesses to hire qualified young people aged 15-30, who are full-time students and intend to return to school in the fall.

“This program is a great way for local employers to ensure that they are able to hire young and skilled workers as well as a great way for students to gain valuable work experience and to save money for the following school year,” said Miller. “I strongly encourage all local employers to apply for funding through this program.”

Employers may submit applications for funding at www.servicecanada.gc.ca/csj. The deadline for applications is January 30th, 2015.
