MP Larry Miller Re-Elected as Chair of the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities

Ottawa, ON –Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, was recently re-elected as the Chair of the Standing Committee on Transportation, Infrastructure, and Communities. The re-election of the Chair marks the beginning of the regular sittings for the committee in the fall session of Parliament.

Mr. Miller was first elected as Chair of this committee in September of 2012 and will continue in this role for the remainder of this session of the 41st Parliament indefinitely. The committee has a mandate to study any aspect of the management and operations of Transport Canada and Infrastructure Canada, as well as any legislation, programs or policy areas administered by the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to Chair the Standing Committee on Transportation, Infrastructure and Communities for another session,” said Miller. “In light of recent events, the committee certainly has a lot on its plate. Safe transportation networks will be a top priority moving forward with committee business this session.”

 

Miller has previous experience as a committee Chair from his role as Chair of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food. He has also been a member of various other Parliamentary committees including International Trade.
