MP Larry Miller Seconds Bill C-309

Ottawa, ON – Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound has seconded Bill C-309 Preventing Persons from Concealing Their Identity during Riots and Unlawful assemblies Act at Third Reading in the House of Commons.

Bill C-309 will amend the Criminal Code to make it an offence to wear a mask or other disguise to conceal one’s identity while taking part in a riot or an unlawful assembly. It is a Private Member’s Bill put forward by Blake Richards, MP for Wild Rose.

“The concealing of one’s identity while being involved in a riot or unlawful assembly is an issue of great concern for police officers, investigators and indeed all Canadians,” said Miller. “I am very pleased that MP Richards has brought this legislation before the House and I am honoured to have been able to second his bill.”

Bill C-309 was introduced in the House of Commons on October 3rd, 2011. It was referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights following Second Reading and will now be up for Third Reading.
