MP Larry Miller Welcomes Funding for Chippewas of Nawash Water Treatment Plant

Ottawa, ON – Larry Miller, Member of Parliament for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, welcomes the recent announcement of $500,000 in funding from the Government of Canada and $500,000 from the Government of Ontario for upgrades to the water treatment plant at the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation (Cape Croker).

This announcement was made as part of a broad rollout of funding from the governments of Canada and Ontario for 35 different projects in communities across the province under the New Building Canada Plan’s Small Communities Fund (SCF). The federal and provincial governments have each committed more than $44 million to the projects, which have a total eligible cost of more than $141 million. Recipient communities will be responsible for the remaining project costs.

“I am very pleased to learn of this important funding for the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation,” said Miller. “Small communities depend on safe and reliable drinking water. This funding will go a long way to ensure that those in the community have reliable, safe, and sustainable drinking water for generations to come.”
