Miller Says Budget Will Promote Jobs and Growth in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound

Ottawa- Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound – is very pleased to see a budget that encourages job and economic growth in Ontario.

The government is leading the way on jobs and growth,” said Larry Miller.  “The second phase of the economic action plan will help the unemployed and our manufacturing sector,” said Milller.

 

“There is also help for our struggling beef sector and small business with initiatives to cut redtape, eliminate tariffs on machinery, and improving available slaughter capacity,” says Miller.

 

Key elements of the budget that will benefit Ontario include:

 

·         $3.2 billion in personal income tax relief

·         Freezing employment Insurance Rates at $1.73 per $100.00 of insurable earnings for 2010.

·         $196 million for labour market training

·         A small and medium sized Enterprise Innovation and Commercialization Program

·         $11 Million per year for Community Futures program delivered by the Federal Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

·         $8 million dollars to Clean up the Great Lakes including Lake Huron

·         $75 million in funding for cattle processing operations to improve their operations in all regions of the country

·         An Increase of $801 million from last year in transfers to Ontario to provide essential public services such as health care and post-secondary education

·         $151 million for Ontario from the Community Development Trust

·         Extension of work sharing agreements to a maximum of 78 weeks.

 

“These initiatives will help foster growth in southern Ontario and Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound and ensure workers can find jobs and have the employment insurance support they need to get through these tough times,” concluded Miller.
