Government Supports Bill C-383

Ottawa, ON – Today, the Hon. John Baird, Minister of Foreign Affairs met with media to express the Government’s support for Bill C-383, the Transboundary Water Protection Act. 

            Bill C-383 is a Private Member’s Bill put forward by Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound. The Bill proposes stronger measures to prevent bulk water removal of water from Canada and will strengthen enforcement provisions and penalties.

“Bill C-383 will deliver on a long-standing government commitment and promise of sovereignty over our water,” said Miller. “I am very happy that the Government will be supporting my Bill and I am looking forward to continued support when it comes up for debate next month.”
