MP Larry Miller Congratulates Local Student on Prestigious Award

Ottawa, ON – Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound extends his congratulations to Vaibhavi “Sonu” Solanki on having received the Top 20 Under 20 presented by Youth in Motion.

Youth in Motion looks for “outstanding young Canadian leaders” with extraordinary achievements to receive the Top 20 Under 20 Award. This year Sonu Solanki was a recipient.

Sonu is a local student from Hanover, Ontario with a long list of achievements. These achievements include: receiving the Canada Wide Science Fair medal in 2009 and being named "Junior Citizen of the Year" in Hanover in 2010. Most recently, Sonu was one of only two Canadians accepted for the Overseas Medical Program where she travelled to India and shadowed a doctor for six weeks gaining hands on medical experience.

“I would like to congratulate Sonu on this amazing achievement. She is a prime example of the amazing youth we have in this area,” said Miller. “Sonu has certainly made Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound very proud.”

Sonu is the first student ever from Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound to receive this award. Her academic excellence and many experiences make her an excellent choice for this award.
