Cutting Red Tape for Veterans
Ottawa, ON – On Monday, June 11th, 2012, The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veteran’s Affairs, announced a new initiative that cuts bureaucratic red tape for Veteran’s claiming health-related medical travel.
The Government announced that Veterans will no longer have to submit receipts for health-related medical travel which will make the claim process much quicker, easier, and more efficient for Veterans.
This announcement comes shortly after the Government announced changes to the Veterans Independence Program that give Veterans an up-front payment for ground and housekeeping services rather than having to submit receipts and wait for claims to be processed.
“I am very happy with the amount of support that has been given to our Veterans,” said Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound. “These new measures will ensure that Veterans will have their money in their pockets sooner.”
Approximately 18,000 Veterans will benefit from this simplified payment process. For more information on these changes for Veterans please visit; http://veterans.gc.ca/eng.
