Town of South Bruce Peninsula Receives Funding through Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program

Wiarton, ON – Today, Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, announced that the Town of South Bruce Peninsula will be receiving $70,000 through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program is being delivered by regional development agencies across the country and will provide $150 million over the next two years to support the rehabilitation, renovation and expansion of existing community infrastructure. There was significant interest in the program in southern Ontario with FedDev receiving more than 1,100 applications during the application intake.

Projects have been selected based on program criteria including; the extent to which funding was leveraged from other sources, construction-readiness, and linkages to Canada’s 150th Anniversary. Funding for the Town of South Bruce Peninsula will support the renovation of the swimming pool in Bluewater Park.

“I am very pleased to announce that the Federal Government will provide the Town of South Bruce Peninsula with $70,000 towards their renovation of the swimming pool at Bluewater Park,” said Miller. “This is an important recreational facility for the town of Wiarton and the surrounding area. I look forward to seeing the completion of this project.”
