Township of Southgate Receives Funding through Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program

Holstein, ON – Today, Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, announced that the Township of Southgate will be receiving $71,600 through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program is being delivered by regional development agencies across the country and will provide $150 million over the next two years to support the rehabilitation, renovation and expansion of existing community infrastructure. There was significant interest in the program in southern Ontario with FedDev receiving more than 1,100 applications during the application intake.

Projects have been selected based on program criteria including; the extent to which funding was leveraged from other sources, construction-readiness, and linkages to Canada’s 150th Anniversary. Funding for the Township of Southgate will support an improvement project at the Holstein Park and Pavilion.

“I am very pleased to announce that the Federal Government will provide the Township of Southgate with $71,600 to improve the Holstein Park and Pavilion,” said Miller. “This funding will ensure that the park and pavilion remains an important part of the community of Holstein.”
